The James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) is revolutionizing our understanding of the distant Universe, yielding a wealth of groundbreaking results. These include the discovery of remarkably luminous galaxies in the early Universe, some with unexpected chemical abundances, and the identification of a previously unknown population of massive black holes. I will review these exciting and puzzling discoveries and discuss their implications for our understanding of how the first galaxies and black holes formed and evolved.
